Newt Gingrich Becoming Catholic!

Found this over on The Deacon's Bench:

The Newt Evangelization: Gingrich to become Catholic

That's right, Newt Gingrich is coming home to Rome! Our prayers and blessings to him, his family, his sponsor and his Catechists in this most wonderful time!

My own daughter and son-in-law are in RCIA as my son-in-law was never baptised and my daughter never made her confirmation. As her father and their sponsors, it is one of the greatest joys my wife and I have watching them grow in their Love and understanding of Jesus Christ and the church he founded, and watching them responsibly teach it to their children.

If I do nothing else right in my life, this will be enough. We look forward to standing with them on Holy Saturday at the Easter Vigil as they become fully confirmed Catholics!

God Bless all Candidates and Catechumens!
Bob

I can't belive it!! Newt Gingrich becomes a Catholic because it's the faith of his THIRD wife. Give me a break, this man makes Bill Clinton look like a saint!!

Wake up "Catholic Conservative American. Stop this selective thinking -- you CAN'T pick and chose what is right and what is wrong.

Anonymous, your "opinion" is duly noted, however misinformed. Judge not lest ye be judged.

First, how do you possibly get that I am "asleep" or "picking and choosing" right from wrong from MY words in that posting? I merely posted a link to another article and offered my blessings and prayers for him and all those who are becoming Catholics this coming Saturday. Nice aim.

Have you ever heard of forgiveness for past sins? All sins are forgivable save one, blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. Unless you know every detail of his previous marriages, as the church thoroughly investigates before allowing this, you are in no position to judge what is seen as a valid marriage and what is not.

Why stop with only condemnation of Newt Gingrich based on his perceived past sins? By your own logic, you must also include Matthew the tax collector, all the Roman Soldiers who persecuted Christians and then went on to become saints, and remember to include Saul of Tarsus who persecuted Christians unto death including St. Stephen, one of the first deacons. Surely that merits condemnation under your model of forgiveness, does it not?

I'm certain Christ does not concern Himself with such pitiful things as earthly politics. If you truly have a problem with his conversion, stop yelling at me or others on the net and take your complaint directly to his Bishop.

Thanks for the comment and God's blessings.

Who is the Catholic Conservative American?
